Criminal alliance

The newly made alliance between the PSD (Social-Democrat Party) and the PC (Conservative Party) is to be headed by politicians under criminal investigations or former collaborators of the Securitate (Communist Secret Service in Romania). The alliance is to be ruled by 13 politicians: Ion Iliescu, Dan Voiculescu, Mircea Geoana, Daniela Popa, Miron Mitrea, Adrian Nastase, Viorel Hrebenciuc, Cristian Diaconescu, Titus Corlatean, Dan Ioan Popescu, Corneliu Ciontu, Bodgan Ciuca and Codrut Seres.

Many of them are right now in trouble with Justice or they are flawed in moral terms. Some are being investigated by prosecutors and others have been sued.

There is also the fact that the fortunes each of the 13 owns reach millions of Euro.

As for Dan Voiculescu, an honorary president of the PC, he was a collaborator of the Communist political police. He donated his 250 million Euro empire to his daughters, together with all his trouble with Justice. Theoretically, he now owns only some estate in the center of Bucharest and a Chinese motorbike.

Ion Iliescu hasn't paid so far for the people who died in the 1989 Revolution and in the coal miners' attacks following one year later.

Mircea Geoana, a president of the PSD, likes living in villas confiscated from the rightful owners during the Communist regime, although there is $ 200,000 in his bank account and business of billions is done around him.

As for the criminal cases against Adrian Nastase and Miron Mitrea, they are deadlocked by and in the Parliament. Although investigated for crimes of million Euro, these two PSD leaders wrote in their statements on personal properties that their fortunes are modest and declined while they were in the opposition.

Dan Ioan Popescu is being investigated because of the way he made his fortune, but he is still prosperous, no matter who is in power.

Codrut Seres, an ex minister from the PC, is investigated for treason and undermining of national economy, but prosecutors are keeping him away from his colleagues in the Parliament. Although he was involved in very rich business in the field of energy, he lives on Stock Exchange speculation in a house situated in a village in Giurgiu.

As for Viorel Hrebenciuc, he is in the funniest shoes. The brain of the PSD and the master of Moldavia is as poor as a church mouse, since he lives on his wages and couldn't even afford to buy the Vacheron Constantin watches he wears. (...) (G.T., A.G.)
