LATEST - In Brief
The Romanian defense minister Teodor Melescanu has mentioned that, in case of a political decision reached by NATO and the Romanian officials, the Ministry is ready to send more troops to Afghanistan, still a limited number because of the resources, the financial ones included.
The minister adds that, in case of request, Romania can also take part in training missions, meaning a group of some 10-20 people would be sent.
Right now there are about 650 Romanian soldiers in Afghanistan: 540 of them are under NATO command, part of the ISAF mission, and there are about 100 soldiers involved in the Enduring Freedom operation. (D.S.S.)
