Basescu: Communism wanders free

In his latest interview to the Romanian public radio post the President of Romania Traian Basescu commented that politicians' frequent arrogance at citizens was proof that the Communist ideology was a survivor. He reminded about the law on the sale of buildings in the national protocol fund or the ordinance on the special Cotroceni commission.

President Basescu commented: "This is evidence that communism wanders free. Politicians' arrogance at Romanians shows politicians think they are intangible. Ceausescu and his servants, the Communist Secret Service and the Militia used to think the same about themselves. Now it has transferred onto politicians who have got to embody a synthesis of the former regime because of their conduct." He added that a phrase such as "convicted, but free" suited Romanian Communism. (A.I.)
