Deputies pass animal protection law

Romanian deputies passed yesterday the animal protection law sanctioning cruelty and mistreatment of animals by fines or even by 1 month-1 year prison.

After voting for the drat the deputies congratulated each other for the "efforts" taken to pass this normative document, in an attempt to impress some guests supporting animal protection. (...)

Conservative Marius Marinescu, initiator of the law, argued the law was meant to do away with the causes effecting in atrocity against animals and also to educate people. The debate was an opportunity for deputies to express affection for animals. (R.I.P.)
