Although missing no opportunity to criticize businessmen cheating on Romanian economy, Basescu has built his campaign against dismissal on funds from oligarchs.

"In my bank accounts there are 4 billion ROL and over 50,000 Euro", the suspended President was telling the intellectuals supporting him. Apart from this money, there are also lots of posters, leaflets, newspaper ads and banners scattered throughout the entire Romania. And apart from such propaganda material, there are the pro-Basescu demonstrations with Romanians fetched from various districts, which implies significant transport and food costs. One wonders where does the money serving Basescu come from?

According to the law, all funds coming from donations, just as the goods and services delivered by supporters, may be used for campaign only after being reported to the Court of Accounts. Mioara Rus, an accountant of the Democrat Party managing the finance for campaign, stated to the Court donations reaching 406, 7 thousand RON, about 121,000 Euro. The emerging difference, including money for the printing of propaganda material, can come only from the pockets of the good oligarchs: those enjoying protection from the suspended President, such as the now famous group of Udrea-Cocos-the Golden Blitz.
