Civic Forum against oligarchic system

Constantinescu launched "The European Generation"

Ex president of Romania Emil Constantinescu came up with a civic forum project yesterday. It is called "The European Generation" and it is aimed at a social move to oppose the "oligarchic system". The launching took place in the Parliament Palace. (...).

The president of AP (the Popular Action Party) said: "I am pleading for the European Generation Forum, a construction that would offer diversity, openness, dialogue and dynamism to the country. (...) It is our duty to propose a new civic pact to society so that Romanian citizens, his/her requests and aspirations, should be the focus of state action and the permanent judge of the latter's efficiency and correctness. (...)

The ex president of Romanian explained the 3-level plan to change Romania. Constantinescu mentioned: "It is about building a political project and a new political class, just as it is about educating citizens, that is electors." He explained the project was not the reloaded version of the Popular Action project. He explained more: "In 2003-2004, intellectual elites went for the D.A. ("Truth and Justice") Alliance. But the latter put up with leaders coming from the communist system and groups of interests." Constantinescu claimed that Romania was now ruled by a "a man coming from inside the system." The AP president also outlined: "This is why right now we need to build a new project with solidarity from civic associations, which I don't intend to rule. This project has to provide names and images to those who form Romania's silent and honest majority." He expressed trust that constant partnership between the academia and NGOs dealing with the protection of civic rights and environment, as well as with civic associations and more society factors could create new perspective for Romania's development. (...) Constantinescu also mentioned support for the Justice reform and "a new pact between citizens and the political class", support for the reform and modernization of education and for promoting Romanians' cultural identity with view to accession to the EU.
