Romanian diplomacy broken to pieces
What Kalman Mizsei, the EU envoy to Chishinau, said in Bucharest this week is something completely new and extremely worrying for the relations between community structures and member states. Kalman Mizsei said Romania should restrict Romanian citizenship for the inhabitants of Basarabia. The endless Iranian nuclear crisis
Iran will continue to enrich uranium regardless of whether a Republican or a Democrat is America's president. At the same time, the United States will oppose any Iranian nuclear program - even a civilian program - because this will contribute to the stability of the regime in Tehran. As a result, nuclear tensions are likely to bedevil US-Iranian relations for years to come.

President can't bear "gang of braggers"
Yesterday the President of Romania Traian Basescu developed upon his favorite topics once again. He explained his view on the pension raise, Bordei Park, the uninominal vote, the Constitution change and especially on why journalists were so hard to bear. He did all this talking in a show on the public radio post.

Parties dismiss PSD education pact
Mircea Geoana, president of the PSD (Social-Democrat Party), proposed that parliamentary parties should make a pact concerning the education system. But the main political parties expressed reticence at the idea.
The Democrats agreed, but on condition that the PSD should stand by the presidential strategy on education. The "Greater Romania" Party warned about the politicization of Romanian education by means of debates under PSD auspices.

Lots of EU funds
Since Romania joined the EU in January 1, 2007, community funds are to reach our country. Last Thursday the Romanian PM Calin Popescu Tariceanu and the EU Commissioner Danuta Hubner signed the strategic document for 2007-2013, on grounds of which the European Commission approves of Romania's operational programmes.

The Romanian culture minister Adrian Iorgulescu said yesterday that he was convinced that Pope Benedict XVI would explain his statement in detail.
