Basescu, the lethal solution
There is one paragraph in the President's message to the Parliament that has made spirits hot: "The criteria for making a new government with full legitimacy in the present political context must be searched for in the outcome of the 2004 parliamentary elections and in the outcome of the referendum in May 19, 2007 as well."

President's objective: lustration law
The President of Romania Traian Basescu mentioned during last weekend's Bookfest in Bucharest that he had initially thought the adoption of a lustration law would be too late, but that "recent events" proved him the opposite.
The communist system has still got effect in today's politics, which is why the Parliament must pass the lustration law soon, the President argued while participating at the launch of Vladimir Tismaneanu's book "Refusal for Forget".

Street fights during Gay Fest 2007
During last weekend's gay parade in Bucharest there occurred threats and violence. The participants were stoned while marching. The many special forces at the place managed to keep it under control, still two policemen were injured. The guardians resisted the attackers in the end. Boc claims there is PNL-PSD protocol
Emil Boc, a president of the PD (Democrat Party), asked the PSD (Social-Democrat Party) and the PNL (National Liberal Party) yesterday to unveil the protocol for a future government. President to award Star of Romania to Dniester heroes
The President of Romania Traian Basescu announced yesterday while at the Bookfest that he was going to award the Star of Romania to the 3 Romanian heroes Andrei Ivantoc, Tudor Petrov Popa and Alexandru Lesco.
