The Committee also conducts periodic investigations, audits, and inspections of intelligence activities and programs.

ROME (Reuters) – Italian customs officers seized more than 8,000 Kalashnikov assault rifles and other weapons on a ship headed to the United States, officials said Tuesday. The arms, worth about $7.15 million, were discovered aboard a ship arriving from Romania that pulled into the southern Italian port of Gioia Tauro on its way to the United States, Italy’s customs said in a statement. According to the travel documents, the arms belong to a large U.S. company with headquarters in the state of Georgia.
"We know that the destination was North America, but we don’t effectively know if that’s where the arms were going," a customs official told RAI state television.
The arms were found inside three containers during a routine customs check earlier this week. They were confiscated due to discrepancies in the customs forms, but the news was only made public Tuesday.
The customs office said the weapons had been described as "common guns" instead of assault rifles and longer-range combat arms in the travel documentation. ($1-.8390 Euro)

Nerealizatule!!

Si c-am la cita( $.... )despagubire te astepti de la guvernu roman , sa-ti dea?????? d-ule V.Ciubuc eu am impresia ca d-ta nu te-ai realizat in viata acolo unde esti in USA, si ce te-ai gindit tu in mintea ta,< hai sa vad daca fraieri astia din Romania pune botul, si iau si eu niste bani de pe urma lor>...... ca asa-i in democratie.Hai sa punem problema altfel: daca toti cei care au plecat din Romania in ani 80' , ar cere despagubiri statului roman, unde-ar ajunge tara asta? Tu ai habar citi romani au fugit din tara pe timpul lui Ceasca, iar in urma lor au lasat famili persecutate de sistem ( printre care si eu sint unul din acei figiti)??? si parinti mei au fost persecutati, dati afara din serviciu si amenintati cu tot felul de porcari, dar asta nu inseamna ca eu acum trebuie sa m-apuc sa dau in judecata statul sa-mi plateasca despagubiri morale, financiare si sociale.Si eu am fostla puscarie ptr. trecere de frontiera, m-au dat sirbi inapoi de doua ori ,( de la Gadovo si Padinskaskela) in 82' si 84' in 86' am reusit sa vin in Canada, si ce vrei sa fac acum...te intreb? sa ma bat cu morile de vint? ce-a fost , a fost, nu poti considera sau compara situatia ta cu cazuri mult mai serioase , precum Holocastul sau pierderea unor proprietati, business.... etc.Ori cum ai da , esti penibil, intrebare mea este; de ce ai asteptat asa de mult timp sa treaca, pina ai ajuns la concluzia ca trebuie sa-i dai in judecata statul roman??????

cred ca toti...

... am fost persecutati, mai mult sau mai putin, dupa cate prostii am facut. D-nul Ciubuc mai bine s-ar impusca. Ne-am invatat sa cerem pomana de la tara asta. De unde sa mai dea?

Cred ca asta spune totul: nu ajungeai director de intreprindere decat daca erai membru de partid. In cazul acesta ar trebui sa fie considerat nu persecutat ci colaborationist. Dar d-l Ciubuc (ce nume predestinat) a facut pactul, a pus botul cum se spune, cat timp a mers treaba. Cum nu a mers a vrut sa isi puna coada la spinare, insa si-a prins-o in cursa. Iar acum miorlaie.

O singura intrebare am pentru d-l Ciubuc: daca el a fost asa de persecutat, cu cat trebuie compensate vietile pierdute in puscariile comuniste, la Canal sau prin gulag. Ce suma le aduce inapoi? Vedeti dvs, bucurati-va de viata ca inca o mai aveti. Va iertam pentru ca - se stie - de la o varsta batranii dau in mintea copiilor.
