The President of Romania Traia Basescu should not promulgate the law draft passed by the Romanian Senate, which would demand radio and television stations to make sure they cast the same amount of negative and positive news. This is the opinion expressed by Miklos Haraszti, a representative of the OSCE.
The latter official describes this law draft in Romania as "severe political interference in editorial freedom". He wrote a letter to the Romanian President, persuading him into not promulgating this legislative project.
It is to be mentioned that Romanian senators passed it, whereas deputies dismissed it. (N.M.)
