The President of Romania Traian Basescu wrote a letter to the presidents of the Chambers yesterday, demanding that an extraordinary session be summoned so that the Parliament would consent to the opening of lawsuits against Miron Mitrea and Adrian Nastase. The other issue on the agenda would be a revision of the law on which the Court of Accounts functions. The President argues in his solicitation that the Parliament's consent is needed in order to avoid delaying justice, a way by which the Parliament can prove that Romania has got the political will to do justice. The head of state also announces intention to ask for a revision of the Court of Accounts law, given the flaws it may contain. (...) (A.I.)
