The representatives of the PD (Democrat Party) and the PLD (Liberal Democrat Party) are working hard on the making of the new party, estimating that it will be officially registered next March after the two parties proceed to fusion. The PDL (Democrat Liberal Party) to emerge will be defined as a people's party to express and support Democrat, Liberal and Christian-Democrat values. Their central headquarters will continue to be the building in Aleea Modrogan, Bucharest.
The political status and programme is going to be based mostly on the Democrat ones with just certain amendments from the Liberal-Democrats. Sources from both parties say the PDL is getting ready to open the electoral campaign in March, after political adversaries ask the Democrats should lose their seats in the Parliament.
The PDL will be making use of victimization on en electoral purpose, as they estimate it will be helpful in their first electoral battle: the local elections. Sources comment: "We will get 60% in the local elections and they will be humiliated."
One problem of the future party's will be the logo and the hymn. As far as the logo is concerned, the Democrats wouldn't really drop the PD name. As for the hymn, things are clear. It is the same song composed for the PD by Horia Rusu. But the other composer is a Liberal mayor of the Band village and he says he will grant the rights in exchange for substantial money. Still he adds he will compose a much better hymn for the Liberals. (C.A.)
