The President attended the international conference celebrating 15 years since the Romanian Constitutional Court had been established. He commented: "As a President, many a time did I have to address this institution. I feel appreciation for those who, even if not consenting to my views all the time, have proved really helpful in preventing those government or Parliament members who initiative and pass normative documents to serve momentary interests, disobeying the fundamental law and public interest."
The head of state claimed that just a threat on the Constitutional Court's action should make authorities in charge of decisions abide by the Constitution. (A.H.)
