Sorin Iliesiu has written again to Ion Iliescu asking him to give a clear and outright answer to the questions relating to his resistance to the condemnation of the crimes of the communism or of his involvement in the events of December 1989. Sorin Iliesiu is vice-president of the Alianta Civica (Civic Alliance Association) and the initiator of an appeal to the condemnation of the crimes of communism This is Iliesiu's second letter of this kind. The answer Ion Iliescu had offered to his first letter has profoundly displeased the leader of the Civic Alliance. The former president of Romania had vehemently criticized him and charged him with lie and calumny. In reply, Iliesiu has accused the "style specific to the communist cunning, i.e. that of appealing to the recipe of the essential lie, wisdom, confusion, diversion, of turning the roles and situations the other way round". The approach of the vice-president of the Civic Alliance has been hailed by Vladimir Tismaneanu, who appreciates that the publication of the letter exchange would clarify many things on Romania's recent history.
