The agreement between the Romanian government and His Majesty King Mihai on the future use of Peles and Pelisor Castles got consent from the Romanian Executive yesterday. Adrian Iorgulescu, a Romanian minister of culture, explained: "According to the memorandum, both the King and the government agree on the cultural value of Peles museum and both parties want Peles Castle and Pelisor Castle too to continue to be available to visitors." He mentioned it was the obligation of the state of Romania not to change the present destination of Peles Castle as museum. The Romanian official added there would be established a board to administer Peles Castle and a representative of the Royal House would be a member of it.
Pelisor Castle is also to be returned to the rightful owners, but it will continue to be a museum three years after the release of the decision on property restitution. Minister Iorgulescu mentioned: "Given the Royal House's solicitation, it is estimated that Pelisor Castle will become a residence of the Royal House, but it will equally be a museum. As for the latter aspect, it is to be settled in the next 12 months." (...) (C.S.)
