Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mihai Razvan Ungureanu: Resignation, "a matter of hours"

Minister Ungureanu stated, in a meeting with media representatives, that the Romanian Prime Minister was decided to resign and that this would happen, in his opinion, during hours. Asked whether, under these circumstances, the objective of Romania's 2007 accession to the EU would still be a realistic one, the chief of Romanian diplomacy showed optimism. "Absolutely, the objective is a realistic one", Mihai-Razvan Ungureanu added. "The election will not affect the administrative capacity of the strategic ministries to implement all measures adopted before the political crisis", the minister of Foreign Affairs also said. According to Reuters, quoted by Reuters, some high officials of the European Union are preoccupied by the fact that the dissolution of the Parliament and the period dedicated to the electoral campaign might endanger the tight calendar of introducing the reforms, agreed upon by Bucharest and Brussels.
