In weeks and years past, each of us has argued that Russia was pursuing a policy of regime change toward Georgia and its pro-Western, democratically elected president, Mikheil Saakashvili. We predicted that, absent strong and unified Western diplomatic involvement, war was coming.

The Supreme Council for National Defense (CSAT) decided yesterday that Romania would provide Georgia with humanitarian assistance, upon the request expressed last Monday by the Georgian government. Politicians are most distrusted
Romanians trust firemen and the military forces most. According to a survey accomplished by the GfK Custom Research in March-April 2008, firemen come first at European level too. Politicians and lawyers come last in terms of the trust they get.
According to the GfK research, firemen are trusted by 94% of citizens, the military comes second (90%), then there follow the post office services (89%) and the teachers (85%).
