Unreasoning Romania
In June 1995 the whole German Parliament building was covered with a huge piece of white cloth and it stayed so for a fortnight. It was taken for an work of art and it was worth the effort. But five months before the start of works the German MPs had a 1-hour debate on whether to allow for the Parliament building to be used as material to support avant-garde art. 292 votes for it, 223 were against it and 9 expressed no option at all. Sarkozy's secret rupture
A year ago, when Nicolas Sarkozy was campaigning for the French presidency, he promised a "rupture" with the past. So far, few French people can see the sort of rupture that Sarkozy promised. But they are wrong to think that nothing has changed in the first year of his presidency. The PSD (Social-Democrat Party) is plotting against the President of Romania Traian Basescu, pursuing to suspend him a second time. Romania's budget deficit scares European Commission
The European Commission recommended yesterday that Romania should prove determined and continue the consolidation of public finance and economy reforms in order to cut on the growing unbalancing of Romanian economy. The Commission announced it by communique.
