Smoking is banned - simulated debates
Public debate is still a farce to Romanian politicians. It is tiny bureaucratic and manipulative exercise, with pre-established conclusions. Here is the most recent example: the "consultations" on smoking arranged by the Ministry of Health because the European Commission insisted for it. A true token of disdain for the opinions (and interest) of most people.

Brussels decision on safeguard clause is political
Romania and Bulgaria, the two newcomers to the EU, are trying to persuade the European Commission that they are efficient with the fight against corruption before the report on the judicial reforms, scheduled for June. Kindergarten Mafia
The Romanian Ministry of Education is doing away with state-owned kindergartens in order to allow for the establishing of private ones, which are much more expensive.
In 2004 there were 183 state-owned kindergartens in Bucharest, but now there are only 149 left, whereas the number of private centers has reached 116. Democrats sent bill against government
At their third attempt, Romanian Democrats managed yesterday afternoon to send the bill against Tariceanu Cabinet to the Parliament. Political agreement on a right center group
The PNL (National Liberal Party) and the AP (Popular Alliance) are going to elaborate a political right center platform to yield in a political agreement of the two parties. Their presidents, Calin Popescu Tariceanu and Emil Constantinescu, announced it yesterday.
