The Bucharest political war between the President of Romania Traian Basescu and PM Calin Popescu Tariceanu has been exported. The latter officials' recommendation that Liberal Varujan Vosganian should become an EU commissioner has been getting suspicion from Brussels. Romanian Liberals claim the plots from Cotroceni Palace are to be blamed for it.

Elections for Parliament of Europe due in May
In yesterday's meeting with Romanian PM Calin Popescu Tariceanu, the leaders of political parties and parliamentary groups decided that elections for the Parliament of Europe would be held in May 13, 2007. Most attendants opposed the idea that early elections should be held in the same day.

Germany votes for Romania's accession
The inferior Chamber of the German Parliament voted yesterday for the project to ratify the Treaty of Accession with the EU for both Romania and Bulgaria. Out of 551 votes there were only 12 who opposed the idea.

Baroness Emma Nicholson of Winterbourne, a vice president of the foreign affairs committee in the Parliament of Europe, told the ZIUA reporter yesterday that Varujan Vosganian would make an excellent EU commissioner.

Baconsky becomes presidency adviser
Yesterday Teodor Banconski became a presidency adviser for politics, as Claudiu Saftoiu had become chief of the Foreign Intelligence Service in Romania.

Belgium wants restrictions too
Belgium intends to limit the access of Romanian and Bulgarian workers to their job market after January 1, 2007, Le Libre Belgique announces.
