The Prodi Cabinet in Italy provided the official confirmation of the decision to withdraw the decree allowing from the expulsion of community citizens from the Italian territory. Vannino Chiti, the Italian minister for relations with the Parliament, announced it yesterday, adding a new decree was to be expected.
This latest decision is due to procedure reasons, after the President of Italy denied an article on severe sanctions against people instigating to discrimination in terms of sex, race, ethnic origin, religion, handicap and sexual orientation.
The Italian interior minister informed yesterday that authorities were working on a new decree-law to be debated and passed in the government meeting due in December 28. The new document is meant to allow for the expulsion of community citizens perceived as dangerous. (L.P.)
