The EU must get over its addiction to the natural gases supplied by Russia. This is what the President of Romania Traian Basescu commented last weekend in a meeting with foreign journalists. The Romanian official mentioned that the progress with the nuclear plant in Cernavoda would help Romania get free, both politically and energetically.
The President of Romania opined that the EU had to do away with its dependence on the Russian gas and avoid a risk such as turning the Russian giant company Gazprom into "an instrument for political pressure".
