Romanian president Traian Basescu promulgated Thursday evening the controversial law project on the status of Romanian senators and deputies. Therefore parliamentarians' privileges, which even some politicians have described as exaggerated, are now lawful. (...) Some time ago the president of Romanian disagreed to the law version because of privileges for MPs. He sent the law to the Constitutional court for revision at the end of February. But the Court decided to leave the financial and social privileges set in the law intact. (R.G.)
