POLITICS - In Brief
New line in PSD
Yesterday's National Council of PSD (the Social-Democrat Party) opened new line in the struggle of power going on inside the party. The elimination of an official position such as executive president from the party's status might determine Adrian Nastase to run as candidate to party president at the future congress. Nastase expressed such wish yesterday on the Parliament Palace Halls, while talking to the PSD leader in Cluj, Ioan Rus. This means the dice wasn't cast yet and the fight for power hasn't been won by anyone, as delegates to the National Council applauded both Ioan Iliescu and Adrian Nastase. Iliescu managed to be on focus this time too, given his sharp speech, reproaching the Social-Democrats for their fortunes. (D.I.)
