Yesterday the Democrats unveiled work against Marko Bela's UDMR (the Democrat Union of Hungarians in Romania) and elaborated new project on national minorities' status. Among others, they eliminated the whole chapter 5 on cultural autonomy included in the initial project. Democrat deputy Valeriu Tabara from Timis told ZIUA that the decision for new law text was reached because talks on this status with UDMR representatives had failed. He explained: "This is actually a new law project on all national minorities. It is a European and constitutional law that is not only UDMR's, but it belongs to all minorities. The project has been on Emil Boc's desk for a month now." (...)
As for UDMR's withdrawal from structures at rule, Tabara reminded that this union didn't have status as political party, but as association. Tabara commented: "This is not exactly legal, since we are talking about law." Deputy Kelemen Hunor from UDMR said his group wouldn't talk to the Democrats about new law project at any costs. (...)
