CIA prison scandal is menace to Romania's accession
The CIA secret prison scandal strikes back as menace to Romania's accession to the EU. Elmar Brok, president of the Foreign Affairs Committee in the European Parliament, said that there would follow talk about Romania's accession in case it was proved that such prisons existed on Romanian territory. Steve Crashow, chief of Human Rights Watch organization, accused Romania and Poland once again of having hosted CIA secret detention centers. The Council of Europe has already started inquiry on such centers supposed to exist in Romania since 2002. Terry Davis, secretary general of the Council of Europe, told ZIUA last week: "We must make sure there were no such centers in Europe." Human Rights Watch is suspecting that such secret prisons have existed for some years now. The Council of Europe wants to know for sure whether CIA detention centers existed in Europe in 2002-2005 or not.

During the Bucharest reunion of the Permanent Commission in the Parliamentary Assembly of the European Council, the Romanian minister explained: "Right now the alleged CIA illegal detention centers in Romania causes no emotion to Bucharest authorities. We are ready to host any investigations on it in Romania."
Jeopardized accession
MEP Elmar Brok, president of the Foreign Affairs Committee in the European Parliament, said Romania's accession to the European Union could be jeopardized in case it was proved that in Romania there were such CIA detention centers. Markische Allgemeine Zeitung published on Friday an article titled "America Under Pressure", including a list of mysterious air moves and confirming recent flights Kabul-Guantanamo-Romania. The article also mentioned the aircrafts headed Mihail Kogalniceanu military airport.
A reporter from the above-mentioned German publication talked to German Conservative MEP Elmar Brok, who said he wouldn't have believed such a thing to be possible. (...)
