PRM ("Great Romania" Party) leader Corneliu Vadim Tudor will be vice president of the Senate. On Wednesday evening the Senate validated his candidacy to the ruling position of this Parliament Chamber. Vadim's position in the Senate Permanent Bureau confirms the existence of an agreement between PRM and PSD (the Social - Democrat Party), at least at parliamentary level. On Wednesday a central daily newspaper was taking up hypothesis according to which the PRM leader asked for his Senate ruling position in exchange to support for PSD. When asked about it, the PRM leader had not problem in telling a lie and accusing misinformation: "It's stupid! I want to be vice president of the Senate? Since I failed presidential elections in 2000, how can I possibly want to be vice president of the Senate?" Except for the Senate president position, the other positions elected yesterday will be up in 2005.
Apart from Vadim, there are the other vice presidents of the Senate: Puiu Hasotii from PNL (the National Liberal Party) Radu Berceanu from PD (the Democrat Party) and Codrut Seres from PUR (the Romanian Humanist Party).
Yesterday parliamentary groups in the Senate also announced their future vice leaders and secretaries. Former president of Romanian Ion Iliescu was chosen leader of PSD senators.
