Meglena Kuneva, Sophia Minister for European Integration, stated yesterday that Romania's EU admission might be delayed, even if the treaty on the admission of the two states would be signed during the same day, informs Bulgarian News Network. Kuneva stated on the Romania's admission in the European Union: " When we sign the treaty we separate". She also stated during a press conference set by the Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs: " The fulfillment of negotiations with view to the EU admission is the most important event of the year". Kuneva highlighted: " From now on no foreign element will threaten Bulgaria's admission. Our fate is in our very hands." According to the Bulgarian minister, Bulgaria's fulfilled negotiations gave Romania the opportunity to fulfil EU admission negotiations as well. She added: " If negotiations with Bulgaria had not been technically fulfilled in June, it is less likely that they should have been so perseverant in looking for a EU decision to complete negotiations with Romania." Kuneva also said: "If we had not completed negotiations in Jun, none of the two countries would have been able to do it. Eventual delay risks effecting on the negotiation process of both countries."
