On Saturday UDMR (the Democrat Union of Hungarians in Romania) leaders in Targu Mures decided to continue negotiations with D.A. ("Truth and Justice") Alliance, made up of PNL (the National Liberal Party) and PD (the Democrat Party), with view to the future Executive structure. The Council of Local Representatives reached this firm decision after Iliescu's recent blunders, as Iliescu was the PSD (the Social - Democrat Party) leader that the Union had initially wanted for partner with view to reaching parliamentary majority. The Humanists want two minister positions at least
During the political office meeting today PUR (the Romanian Humanist Party) leaders are to decide if they give parliamentary support to PNL - PD Alliance or if they shake hands with PSD. So far the Humanists led by Dan Voiculescu have informed that "as far as the moral sense in politics is concerned", they will stand by Adrian Nastase's party. In spite of this, surprises might show up, especially that Dan Voiculescu admitted Iliescu's political blunder (setting Miron Cozma free), which "gave PUR the impulse" to get closer to the Alliance.
