BASA - press and Mediafax inform that yesterday Nikolai Reabov, new Russian Ambassador to Chisinau announced that Russia rejected the Declaration of Stability and Security for the Republic of Moldavia. During press conference the Russian diplomat highlighted that the Moscow Government had carefully studied the Stability and Security Pact for the Republic of Moldavia, after the latter had been sent to the sides involved. Russian officials expressed support for the initiative of Chisinau officials and suggested the Pact might turn into final consent to complete the process of administering the crisis in Transdnistria, Reabov said. He stated that after Russia had reached official attitude Chsinau authorities had no reaction and "ignored Moscow offers." The diplomat added that the Republic of Moldavia asked Russia to sign the Declaration of Stability and Security for the Republic of Moldavia instead of the Pact. The diplomat also alluded to the fact that the document included changes of contents as compared to the Pact text released in 2003 by Vladimir Voronin. The Russian Ambassador claimed the Declaration of Stability and Security was a document elaborated by USA and that only a few Chisinau suggestions were added to it. The Declaration is to be signed during the reunion of the OSCE Council of Ministers, due in December in Sophia. Vasili Sova, Moldavian Minister of Reintegration, had previously sated that if the involved states - Russia, Ukraine, Romania, USA and EU - signed the text, they would decisively contribute to finding solution to the crisis in Transdnistria.
